Rome, Aug 15 (IBNS): Italian club AS Roma has signed French World Cup winning side player Steven Nzonzi from Sevilla.

The 29-year-old, a World Cup winner this summer with France, agreed a four-year contract with the Giallorossi at Trigoria after arriving in Rome on Tuesday afternoon – and cannot wait to get started in the next phase of his career.

“I’m very happy to be here and to be a Roma player,” Nzonzi told Roma TV. “I’m very pleased to be here.

“I really felt that the club wanted me to come. This is why I am here, and I’m happy to join such a big club.”

On his targets for the campaign, he added: "The most important thing is always the goal of the team. My personal goal is to improve my game, but the team’s objective is more important.

"For any footballer, winning trophies is the highest it gets. It’s not easy to win, but that is what we work for. Even if it’s hard to win, we aim for this.

"Hopefully we’ll do our best to try to win.”
