Mumbai/UNI: The BCCI's Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) members led by Madan Lal on Wednesday named former India spinner Sunil Joshi as the chairman of the national selection panel.

"The committee recommended Sunil Joshi for the role of Chairman of the senior men's selection committee," BCCI said in a statement.

The CAC, comprising Madan Lal, RP Singh and Sulakshana Naik also picked former pacer Harvinder Singh in the five-member group.

Sunil Joshi will replace MSK Prasad (South Zone), who had an extended run after completing his four-year tenure while Harvinder was chosen from central zone and replaces Gagan Khoda in the panel.

The BCCI also said that the CAC will review the panel's performance after one year and "make recommendations" accordingly.

The two new members will join Mr Devang Gandhi, Mr Sarandeep Singh and Mr Jatin Paranjape, who will finish their term later this year, in the selection committee.

The CAC had earlier shortlisted five candidates for interviews -- Joshi, Harvinder, Venkatesh Prasad, Rajesh Chauhan and L S Sivaramakrishnan - from a list of 40 applicants.

The 49-year-old Joshi has played 15 Tests and 69 ODIs between 1996 and 2001 and picked 41 and 69 wickets respectively.

Harvinder, 42, represented India in three Tests and 16 ODIs between 1998 and 2001, took four and 24 wickets respectively.
