Cricket World Cup 2023: Injured Hardik Pandya to miss India-New Zealand match
Team India cricket vice-captain Hardik Pandya is set to miss the next match against New Zealand owing to his ankle injury.
Pandya sustained an injury to his left ankle while fielding on his own bowling during India’s match against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Thursday.
Pandya immediately left the field and missed the remainder of the match.
The all-rounder was taken for scans and is advised rest. He will be under the constant supervision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Medical Team.
Pandya will not be taking the flight to Dharamsala with the team on October 20 and will now join the team directly in Lucknow where India play England, BCCI stated.
Meanwhile, India maintained their unbeaten run in the ongoing World Cup outplaying Bangladesh by seven wickets, riding on Virat Kohli's 103 not out on Thursday.
India will take on New Zealand in Dharamsala on October 22.
