New Delhi, Nov 17 (IBNS): National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) slapped an eight-year ban on Haryana sprinter Dharambir Singh on dope charges, media reported on Thursday.

Singh was prevented from representing India at the Rio Olympics in the 200-metre race after he failed the dope test.

According to media reports, Singh tested positive for a banned substance during a test conducted by NADA at the Indian Grand Prix Meet in Bengaluru in July.

This was his second offence.

He did not appear for a mandatory dope test in 2012.
