IPL: Dwayne Bravo replaces Gautam Gambhir as KKR mentor

Mumbai/IBNS: West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo has been named as the new mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders months ahead of the new season of Indian Premier League.

Bravo will replace India's head coach Gautam Gambhir who served as the mentor in IPL 2024.

Gambhir quit the post after he was named as the head coach of the national side soon after KKR lifted the trophy in the 2024 edition of the mega tournament.

Joining the team, Bravo said, "Having played for and against the Knight Riders in various leagues, I have a lot of respect for how they operate. The owners' passion, the professionalism of the management, and the family-like environment make it a special place.

"This is the perfect platform for me as I transition from playing to mentoring and coaching the next generation of players."

Bravo, a star player in the T20 format, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket after suffering an injury in the Caribbean Premier League's 2024 season.

He had retired from international cricket in 2021. The allrounder also stepped away from the cash-rich IPL the same year.

Bravo had formerly played for multiple IPL franchises including Chennai Super Kings and Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL.
