Visakhapatnam, May 13 (IBNS) Playing an away match, KingsXIPunjab won it by seven wickets, beating home side Mumbai Indians here on Friday.

Murali Vijay (54) and Wriddhiman Saha (56) both scored half centuries and starred in a century plus stand (116) to take their side home.

Vijay hit five fours and a six in his 52-ball innings.

Bengal boy Saha hit six fours and a six in his 40-ball innings.

Mitchell McClenaghan struck back to pick up Saha and Maxwell in quick succession in the wee hours but was too late to cause any harm to the Punjab side

Chasing 125 runs, Punjab lost opener Hashim Amla for a duck, as his side was reduced for 1 run for the loss of a wicket.

McClenaghan and his compatriot Tim Southee picked up two and one wickets respectively.

Opting to bat first, the Mumbai Indians batsmen were to 124 runs for the loss of nine wickets.

Mumbai had a terrible start, losing two wickets for eight runs, inside three overs.

The home side lost three more for 61 runs, but a 52-run partnership between Krunal Pandya (19) and Kieron Pollard (27) spared them the blushes as the side got past the 100-run mark.

Playing his second match, Nitish Rana hit three sixes in his score of 25, which came off 28 deliveries.

Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma contributed 15 runs, while playing 24 balls. Sharma hit just the one four.

Marcus Stoinis was the pick of the KXIP bowlers, picking up four wickets. Two each was picked by Sandeep and Mihit Sharma, while Axar Patel chipped in with a wicket.
