Kolkata/IBNS: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 7 wickets with 21 balls to spare in the IPL clash at the Eden Gardens here on Monday (Apr 29).
Chasing Delhi's 154-run target, KKR batters managed to reach their goal in 16.3 overs and beat DC by 7 wickets.

For KKR, opener Phil Salt scored the highest, 68 off 33 balls, while the Iyer-duo, skipper Shreyas Iyer (33 off 23) and Venkatesh Iyer (26 off 23), finished the game in style.
Axar Patel took 2 wickets for 25 runs in his four-over spell for Delhi, while Lizaad Williams got one.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals captain Rishav Pant won the toss and elected to bat first.
KKR bowlers performed well to restrict Delhi to 153-9 in 20 overs.
For KKR, Varun Chakaravarthy took 3 wickets for 16 runs in his 4-over spell, while Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora got 2 wickets each.

Sunil Narine and Mitchel Starc got 1 wicket each for KKR.
DC tailender Kuldeep Yadav scored the highest (35 off 26) runs which helped the DC innings to cross 150 runs.

Delhi captain Rishav Pant scored 27 runs of 20 balls.
KKR's Varun Chakaravarthy won the Player of the Match award.
KKR's "lucky charm", Bollywood superstar and Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan was present at the stadium to cheer his team.

With this victory, KKR held its second position in the IPL 2024 points table, while Delhi Capitals slipped to the sixth position.
KKR will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) in the next game on May 3 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, while DC will play their next match against table-topper Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 7 at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi.
