Italian blow to India in Davis Cup qualifier

Kolkata, Feb 1 (IBNS): India's Ramkumar Ramanathan lost 4-6, 2-6 to Italian Andreas Seppi in the opening day of the Davis Cup qualifier here today.

The match ended in 72 minutes.

Next, Prajnesh Gunneswaran will next take on 22-year-old Matteo Berrettini, also from Italy, in the singles rubbers.

India will be hoping that the new format helps them pull off an upset with the World Group at stake.
