Jammu and Kashmir: Police holds semi-finals for Under-19 cricket tournament

Srinagar: Under the banner of Police Flag Day celebrations, Srinagar Police organized a Cricket tournament of U-19 with the slogan of "Play for Unity" and the semi-finals between Zonal teams of Srinagar was held at SK Stadium Srinagar.

SSP Srinagar Dr M. Haseeb Mughal interacted with the players and asked them to uphold the character of the game and exhibit the best spirit of sportsmanship.

SSP Srinagar on the occasion was flanked by all Zonal SSP, DySP DAR Srinagar, DySP headquarters, SDPO Nehrupark and other officers of the district.

The first semi-final was played between Hazratbal Strikers and KMR Tigers Harwan in which KMR Tigers won the toss and choose to field first.

Hazratbal Strikes made 108 runs after losing all wickets. In response, KMR Tigers Harwan scored 110 runs on the loss of 9 wickets.

KMR Tigers won the first semi-final and Owais Ahmad was declared man of the match by scoring 57 runs for his team. The second semi-final was played between Friends 11 Barzulla and Khanyar Knight Riders.

Friends 11 Barzulla chose to bat first and scored 114 runs after losing 8 wickets. In response, Khanyar Knight Riders scored 118 runs with a loss of one wicket. Riders won the second semi-final and Sarsheel was declared man of the match after scoring 82 runs for his team.

Both the teams were presented with trophies for winning the semi finals and making their place in the finals. The spectators enjoyed the game and hailed Police for promoting the game and encouraging the youth of the district to participate in the programs meant for the welfare of the youth in particular and the society in general.
