Chennai, Dec 19 (IBNS): After a run out in his debut Test and a soft dismissal in the ensuing one, Karnataka batsman Karun Nair made it count in Chennai as the middle order batter notched up his maiden Test hundred here on Monday, the fourth day of the fifth and final Test match between India and England.

At lunch, India have put on 463 runs for the loss of five wickets.

The home team now trail by 14 runs.

Murali Vijay was the man to depart in the morning session.

Vijay was trapped in front by debutant Liam Dawson for 29.

His wicket also cost India a review as he decided to go against the on-field umpires's initial decision, which was later sustained by the third umpire.

Nair (122) and Ravichandran Ashwin (9) will resume their innings post lunch.

Nair's innings was studded with 11 boundaries and a maximum.
