Kuala Lumpur/UNI: Ace Indian shuttler P V Sindhu on Friday crashed out of the Malaysia Masters after losing to Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals at the Axiata Arena.

Sindhu lost to world No. 2 Tai Tzu 13-21, 21-12, 12-21 in 55 minutes.

This was her seventh consecutive loss and overall 17th defeat in 22 outings against the Taipei shuttler.

In the opening game, Sindhu found it difficult to break Tai Tzu's defence and was trailing 9-11 at interval.

With a good mix of backhand shots and smashes, the Taipei shuttler held 1-0 lead in the match by pocketing the first game 21-13.

Sindhu was quick on her feet in the second game and raced to an 11-4 lead.

Tai Tzu Ying staged a mid-game comeback but an early lead helped the Indian take the second game 21-12 and forced the match into decider.

Both shuttlers showcased a fine game in the decider.

Sindhu, who was initially leading, lost her rhythm and conceded points in quick succession.

Tai Tzu successfully capitalised on the gap in the scoreboard and wrapped up the win to sail into the semifinals of the Super 500 tournament.

Sindhu has lost to Tai Tzu in the Tokyo Olympics semifinals.

Most recently, she suffered a loss at the Malaysia Open quarterfinals last week.
