MI beat Kings by 23 runs

Chandigarh, May 3 (IBNS): Mumbai Indians registered a crucial away match as they defeated Kings XI Punjab by 23 runs in an Indian Premier League (IPL)match here on Sunday.

Posting 172 runs for the loss of three wickets, Kings were restricted to 149 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

David Miller remained the top scorer for the side with his 43 runs.

Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga took two wickets for Mumbai as the former IPL champions restricted Kings to 149.

Earlier, a 56-ball 71, Lendl Simmons and a crucial 59 runs knock by Parthiv Patel helped Mumbai post 172 runs on the scorecard.

Simmons hammered nine boundaries and a six in his knock.
