Islamabad:  Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Irfan has claimed that former Indian opener and World Cup hero Gautam Gambhir was scared of him and that was the reason for him to end his white-ball career soon.

The pacer claimed that Gautam struggled against his bowling during Pakistan's tour of India in 2012/13 and was afraid of even making eye contact with him.

“I think his career ended because of me,” Irfan told SAMAA TV. “He didn't return to the team after that.”

“Gautam Gambhir was afraid of me,” Irfan claimed.

In his cricket career, Irfan had taken 83 wickets in 60 ODIs.

He played his last ODI for Pakistan in September 2016 against England.

His last T20I appearance for the Men in Green was played during the 2016-edition of World T20 in India.

Gautam Gambhir, who had played major roles in 2007 World T20 and World Cup 2011 victories, retired from international cricket recently.

He won Lok Sabha polls for Delhi this year.
