Toy imports dropped in last 3 yrs following quality control, increased custom duty: Centre

New Delhi/IBNS: The government has taken series of steps to promote domestic manufacturing of toys to ensure that no sub-standard, unsafe cheap toys are imported into India. Import of toys into Indian market during the last three years has shown a decreasing trend, Union minister of state for commerce and Industry told Lok Sabha in written reply on Wednesday.

BIS certification becomes mandatory for Indian toy industry, stakeholders want more time

New Delhi/IBNS: The Indian toy industry, through their apex body, All India Toys Federation (AITF) have requested the Union government to reconsider the time frame for the mandatory certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), which goes into force from September 1, 2020.
