Ahead of Bakrid, PETA India urges states to enforce law prohibiting animal sacrifices

New Delhi, Aug 11 (IBNS): People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India has sent a letter to the chief secretaries, the directors general of police, and the directors of animal husbandry departments of state governments and union territories across India, as well as the commissioners of municipal corporations of metropolitan cities, requesting that they take all possible precautionary measures to stop the illegal transport and killing of animals in the lead-up to Bakrid, as was also advised by the Animal Welfare Board of India in its 20 July 2018 circular, an official release stated.
