Kolkata Illish-Chingri Judha festival

Aug 23, 2014, at 07:36 pm

The cold war of 'Ghoti' and 'Bangal' continues from the football field to the kitchen. While the Hilsa fetish dominates the Opar or Eastern part of Bengal border, the obsession with Chingri continues in Epar or Western part of Bengal. But the fate of the two delicacies seems to be inextricable intertwined. To bank on this age old rivalry, De Sovrani Hotel in Kolkata is celebrating Prawn and traditional Hilsa festival called Illish-Chingri Judha. The festival will continue till the first week of September. Images by IBNS
