Libya: UN urges action on political, security fronts

New York, Jun 5 (IBNS): Citing aerial attacks, use of heavy weaponry and civilian casualties in Benghazi and elsewhere in eastern Libya, the United Nations on Wednesday called for an end to the bloodshed and urged the country's officials to agree on precise means to counter terrorism and other challenges to security and state authority.

New York, Apr 12 (IBNS): The recent sighting of unidentified planes over Yida, South Sudan, and the aerial bombing of a nearby community have raised fears about the safety of refugees and aid workers in the highly militarized area, the United Nations said on Friday, fearing these incidents might signal an increase in violence in the strife-torn country.
