African Union-UN mission launches campaign in west Darfur against use of child soldiers

New York, May 11 (Just Earth News/IBNS): The African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) has launched a campaign in west Darfur, Sudan, to raise awareness on the need to end the recruitment and use of child soldiers by armed forces and groups across the region.

New York, Oct 13 (IBNS): The African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) on Monday welcomed as a "significant step" an order by the rebel Justice and Equality Movement known as JEM that prohibits the recruitment and use of children in its ranks.

Yangon/New York, Aug 2 (IBNS) Myanmar released dozens of children and young adults from its armed forces, known as the Tatmadaw, the United Nations Friday confirmed, welcoming also efforts to get the people away from guns and into classrooms.
