Lahore, Pakistan: Farmers vowed to continue their protest against exorbitant hike in petroleum prices, unavailability of fertiliser and higher prices of the compost as police thrashed and arrested hundreds of them at the southern entrance of the Lahore city in Pakistan on Thursday, media reports said.

Punjab, Pakistan: Several farmers, who originate from Bhong, Rahimabad and Nawazabad areas, participated in a rally against the fertiliser crisis, unavailability of irrigation water and the ‘precarious’ law and order in Sadiqabad tehsil, some 35 km from here, on Saturday, media reports said.

Islamabad: PM Imran Khan might be facing a new challenge soon as farmers in the country are planning to protest in the upcoming days over a list of demands, including the fixing of the minimum support price (MSP) per maund (40 kilograms) of wheat at 2,000 Pakistani rupees ($12.60), and sugarcane at 300 rupees, in addition to setting a flat electric power rate of 5 rupees per unit for farm tube-wells, media reports said.
