World press freedom protection bodies seek fresh probe into 2007 murder of Pakistan journalist

Islamabad: A new report on the murder of Pakistani journalist Zubair Mujahid in 2007 finds significant errors in the official police investigation, claimed several international bodies working to protect press freedom.

Islamabad/IBNS: Displaying the tough situation of journalists in the country, Pakistan has slipped three more positions in the latest  Reporters Without Borders'  2020 World Press Freedom index and now stands at the 145th position.

RSF’s 2018 round-up of deadly attacks and abuses against journalists shows figures up in all categories

The RSF round-up figures have risen in all categories. Murders, imprisonment, hostage-taking and enforced disappearances have all increased. Journalists have never before been subjected to as much violence and abusive treatment as in 2018.
