Mumbai, July 3 (IBNS): In a move to further enhance the seamless air connectivity offered to flyers, GVK MIAL’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) announced the commencement of non-stop flight operations to Toronto effective July 2.

The long haul 15-hour flight on the Mumbai -Toronto route, serviced by Air Canada, will operate 4 times weekly with a 298 seater Boeing 787-900 aircraft offering a three class configuration of international business class, premium economy and economy.

North America, a booming aviation market, has a demand of nearly 5,600 passengers per day, each way, from Mumbai and its catchment area, growing at 8% CAGR. This service will be the only non-stop connection to Canada from Mumbai while it will be the 3rd non-stop flight connection on the Mumbai-North America route, after United Airlines and Air India.

In FY2017, Mumbai including its catchment area, registered over 4, 11,000 passengers to Canada with a robust three year CAGR of 11%, of which 2, 60,000 are direct passengers to Toronto growing at a three year CAGR of 10% annually.

In the past 6 months, CSIA has been successful in establishing route connectivity to various new destinations, namely Jakarta (by Garuda Indonesia), Bali (by AirAsia X Indonesia), Brussels (by Brussels Airlines), Kigali (by Rwandair), and Beijing (by Air China).

Facilitating non-stop flights to and from the financial capital of India further strengthens the foundation of city’s rapidly developing trade and commerce relationship with countries around the globe.
