4.4 earthquake hits Los Angeles, no casualty

Los Angeles, Aug 29 (IBNS): An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter Scale hit Los Angeles city on US on Wednesday, police said.

The city police said the quake was felt in several parts of the city.

"Preliminary reports are that it was a 4.4 magnitude #earthquake felt across many parts of the Los Angeles area," the police tweeted.

The police also confirmed that no casualty has been reported so far.

"Did you feel that earthquake? We did. No reports of any damage so far. But it’s always a good time to be earthquake-ready," it said.

As per the United States Geological Survey website, the epicentre of the earthquake is located north of La Verne city.

It hit at a depth of 6 kms.

Several aftershocks were also felt following the first quake.

The La Verne Police tweeted: "La Verne residents may have felt an earthquake and several aftershocks in the last 30 minutes. The initial quake was a 4.4 centered 2 miles north of La Verne. At this time there have been no reports of damage and no injuries."
