Afghanistan nationals safe in Colombo: Officials
Kabul, Apr 22 (IBNS): The Afghanistan government on Monday said all its citizens in Colombo and other parts of the country are safe as eight blasts rocked Sri Lanka on Sunday.
" We are in touch with the few #Afghan citizens in Colombo & other affected cities where they're all reported safe from the attacks. With the country still in shock following the eight blasts that rocked the nation on Easter Sunday, Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday announced that Apr 23 will be observed in the country as 'Day of National Mourning'.
" President @MaithripalaS announced the declaration of 23rd April as the Day of National Mourning for the victims of ruthless terrorist attacks at churches and hotels in the country on April 21," the official government website news.lk reported.
At least 290 people were killed in the blasts which even targeted three churches in the country.
So far 24 people have been arrested.
No group has claimed responsibility for the incidents so far.
