Kabul/IBNS:  The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) has killed a Taliban leader in Afghanistan's central Wardak province, media reports said.

According to a statement released by 203rd Thunder Corps, the security forces repulsed a Taliban attack on Sayedabad district late on Saturday night, Khaama Press reported.

The statement further added that the security forces killed Qari Jawid alias Masroor, one of the prominent leaders of Taliban during the clash, reported the news agency.

He was in charge of a group of 50 Taliban militants.

According to media reports, he was also appointed as the shadow police chief of Taliban for Sayedabad district.

The Taliban group did not comment on the issue so far.
