Kabul/UNI: The Afghan Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday confirmed 112 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 35,615.

A total of 333 tests were conducted within the past 24 hours out of which 112 came out positive in 11 out of 34 Afghan provinces, TOLOnews reported.

Three COVID patients also died within the period, taking the death toll in the country to 1,186, the statement added.

The ministry also said that the total number of people who have recovered from the virus reached 23,795 after 76 more people were discharged from hospitals after making a complete recovery on Monday.

Laboratories across Afghanistan have tested 84,202 people since February.

Local health experts believe that the actual number of infections could be higher than the official figures as many patients did not visit hospitals and there was no system to register them.
