Afghanistan: Taliban claims responsibility for Kabul attack

Kabul, Jan 15 (IBNS); The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the blast which rocked Afghanistan capital Kabul on Monday and claimed four lives, media reports said.

The car bombing on a foreign guest house in capital Kabul left at least 113 people injured.

Najib Danish, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), told Pajhwok Afghan News the bombing happened at around 7:00pm in limits of the 9th police district. 

“Fortunately, a few security guards were present at the camp,” Danish told the news agency, adding many residential houses were located close to the Green Village Camp. Several of those homes were damaged. 

Basir Mujahid, spokesman for Kabul police, told Pajhwok Afghan News four people, including three policemen and one civilian, were killed and more than 100 others wounded in the bombing. 

President Ashraf Ghani has condoled the loss of lives in the attack.

India, ex-Afghanistan President condemn:

Former Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai  also condoled the loss of lives in the incident.

"Hamid Karzai strongly condemns the terrorist attack in #Kabul that inflicted casualties on the residents. The former President called the attack the work of ill-wishers of Afghanistan, and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of victims," a tweet posted on his official page read.

India also condemned the attack in Kabul.

"India strongly condemns the horrific terror attack in Kabul yesterday in which an Indian national and many others lost their lives," the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

"We express our sincere condolences to the families of the victims of this cowardly attack and wish early recovery to the injured," it said.
