Afghanistan: Taliban torturing former military officer video goes viral

Kabul/UNI: A video showing a Afghan military officer of former government being tortured by Taliban has gone viral on social media.

A large number of people on social media platforms have said such actions are clearly in contradiction to the general amnesty announced by the Taliban in the first days of its coming into power, Tolo News published on Tuesday.

Sayed Baqir Mohsini, a political analyst, said, “Detaining and interrogating people due to their relations with the former government will increase social inferiority and problems which can change into a threat to security and stability in the future."

The latest video comes as the Taliban reiterates that a general amnesty has been announced.

On Monday, Annas Haqqani, a senior member of the group, said:“Now that a general amnesty has been announced, it is better that all the people should be treated properly, and taking personal revenge should be avoided."

Meanwhile, the Taliban has not issued any comments on the recently released video.
