Balochistan: Blast leaves three people killed, 12 injured
Islamabad: At least three people, including a leader of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), were killed as an explosion hit Pakistan's Chaman area in Balochistan on Saturday, media reports said.
The blast reportedly left 12 others hurt.
According to police officials, the bomb was an improvised explosive device (IED) which was planted in a motorcycle parked on the roadside, reported Dawn News.
The explosion initially left Maulana Muhammad Hanif, a central leader of the JUI-F, critically injured. He was being shifted to Quetta when he succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital, Chaman Assistant Commissioner Yasir Dashti told Dawn News.
The blast occurred at a place which is located close to the border with Afghanistan.
The dead include a 12-year-old child, Chaman District Police Officer Shaukat Mohmand told DawnNewsTV.
No group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
The blast occurred on a day when Afghanistan voted to elect their new President.
