Bangladesh community members protest in Washington DC for recognition of 1971 genocide

Washignton, DC: The Bangladesh community in Washington DC Metro Region recently held a demonstration outside the White House demanding recognition of genocide perpetrated by the Pakistani Army in 1971.

The demonstration was conducted by the group to commemorate the 50th Victory Day (Vijay Diwas) of Bangladesh.

They were led by the US-based Human Rights Congress for Bangladesh Minorities (HRCBM) Executive Director Priya Saha and HRCBM Washington DC Metro Area Coordinator Pranesh Haldar, reports ANI.

During the protest, the members were seen holding placards and raised slogans demanding US Congress should hold Pakistan responsible for the ‘Bengali genocide.’

Pranesh Haldar demanded that Pakistan Government should offer a formal apology to the Bangladesh government for the genocide perpetrated by its army.

The protest was supported by the Afghanistani community of the region.
