Bangladesh registers 9369 new COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours

Dhaka: Bangladesh, the country struggling to contain the recent spike in cases, registered 9,369 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, media reports said.

The death toll due to the highly infectious virus now stands at 20,685 as 218 people died in the past 24 hours.

Dhaka registered the most daily deaths and new cases among the eight divisions, logging 67 fatalities and 4,272 infections. Chattogram tallied 55 deaths and 2,827 cases, Khulna 27 deaths and 571 cases, Rajshahi 22 deaths and 520 cases, and Rangpur 16 deaths and 233 cases., reports bdnews24.

Nationwide, another 14,017 people recovered from the illness, bringing the tally of recoveries to 1,078,212, the news portal reported.
