Dhaka, Mar 2 (IBNS): Bangladesh's Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Monday arrested a person in connection with the murder of writer Avijit Roy here last week.

Farabi Shafiur Rahman was arrested from Dhaka’s Jatrabarhi area.

RAB’s Additional Director General Col Ziaul Ahsan told bdnews24.com that he was nabbed on Monday morning from Dhaka’s Jatrabarhi area while he was leaving the city.

“Fundamentalist blogger Farabi is the prime suspect of writer Avijit Roy’s murder,” Ahsan told the website.

According to reports,  Farabi had even asked online bookshop ‘rokomari.com’ to pull out Roy's books from its website.

Roy was hacked to death by unidentified  assailants  on Dhaka University campus last Thursday night.

Roy's body was donated the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital on Sunday.

People across Bangladesh have protested against the murder of the Bangladeshi-American blog writer.
