Canada PM Justin Trudeau condoles death of Barbara Bush

Barbara, who was the wife of former US President George HW Bush, died at an age of 92.

In a tweet, Trudeau said: "Always a friend to Canada, Barbara Bush leaves a legacy of dignity, grace, service and devotion to family. Sophie and I send our deepest condolences to Presidents George H.W. and George W. Bush, their family, and to all Americans."

Barbara was a key figure in the political family which has given two Presidents to the nation- her husband George HW Bush and son George W Bush.

Sje had served as the first lady of the country from 1989 to 1993.

George HW Bush is the longest living US President at 93.

His son George W Bush was elected as the President of the US in 2000.

He served the nation for two terms.

A statement issued by George W Bush's office said: "My dear mother has passed on at age 92. Laura, Barbara, Jenna, and I are sad, but our souls are settled because we know hers was. Barbara Bush was a fabulous First Lady and a woman unlike any other who brought levity, love, and literacy to millions."

He said: "I'm a lucky man that Barbara Bush was my mother. Our family will miss her dearly, and we thank you all for your prayers and good wishes."
