Toronto, Nov 11 (IBNS): Canadians, from all walks of life gathered together to honour the services of the soldiers who laid their lives for the sake of the country in a special Remembrance Day service, held in different community groups across the country.

The Protest Cemetery on St. Clair West in Toronto, near Lansdowne Avenue  hosted a sunrise ceremony, early morning at 7:30 a.m. Toronto Mayor, John Tory was present to attend the ceremony as his part of remembering the valiant souls.

A big group of people attended the ceremony at the cemetery to offer their gratitude and prayers to the martyrs and their families.

More services will be held at the Old City hall Cenotaph and at the other civic centers across the city.

Mayor Tory will be attending the Cenotaph ceremony and will deliver a speech followed by laying down a wreath to show his respect.

The city hall services will start around 10:45 a.m.

The Veteran’s Memorial at Queen’s Park will also hold a memorial service at around 10:45 a.m.

At 10 a.m. the University of Toronto’s downtown campus will ring 51 bells in the honour of the fallen soldiers, from their soldier’s tower memorial.

The bagpipers will be present at nine intersections on Yonge street from Richmond to Alexander streets and would pay a moving tribute.

At 11 a.m. a silence will be observed all along the area, and the pipers will play The Lament.

The digital billboards, located at the Yonge-Dundas Square will also pause at 11 a.m. and present a picture of a red poppy to mark the remembrance day tributes.

The Sunnybrook Veterans Centre, as part of ‘Operations Raise a Flag’, planted around 30,000 flag on the centre’s lawns on Thursday evening, giving the war veterans a chance to wake up with the thought that their services to the land are something that the country is well proud of.

As part of the Remembrance Day celebration plans, TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) vehicles will also pause for two minutes to offer their homages.

About 1400 communities across the country will commemorate the Remembrance day to remember the ultimate sacrifices that the soldiers of the land has done for the nation as a whole.

However, Ottawa, the capital of Canada, will host the most protuberant Remembrance day ceremony, where Gov. Gen. David Johnston and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, along with ten s of thousands of people will gather around the War Memorial to pay their tributes to the fallen angels of the land.

This year’s Silver Cross Mother is Colleen Fitzpatrick, a British Columbia woman who lost her son Cpl. Darren Fitzpatrick  in 2010 when he stepped on an explosive device during the war in Afghanistan.

Fitzpatrick will place a wreath on behalf of all Canadian mothers who lost their child in the line of duty.
