China's Huawei may permanently leave Russian market

| @indiablooms | Oct 31, 2022, at 11:41 pm

Beijing: Chinese IT giant Huawei may permanently leave the Russian market as the company has reportedly ceased the delivery of its equipment to the country, Russian newspaper Izvestia reported on Monday, citing sources.

"Huawei really does not supply its devices to Russia directly at the moment," a source familiar with the situation told the newspaper.

The official brand stores still sell some units of the equipment remaining from previous supplies, the report said.

The report added, citing Denis Kuskov, the director general at the Telecom Daily internet service provider, that Huawei had stopped the delivery of cellular base stations to Russia since this past summer.

In an effort to avoid getting hit by US sanctions imposed against Moscow over the military operation it launched in Ukraine in February and the disruptions in the logistic chains, the company has been curtailing its operations in Russia and closing its stores.
