Chinese president Xi Jinping congratulates Russian president Vladimir Putin on re-election for another term

Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended congratulations to incumbent Russian President Vladimir Putin on his re-election as head of state, the state-run China Central Television (CCTV) broadcaster reported on Monday.

In his congratulatory message, Xi said Putin's reelection fully reflects the support of the country's people and expressed confidence that Russia will achieve even greater success in development under Putin's leadership.

China attaches great importance to the development of relations with Russia and is ready to maintain close cooperation with the country to promote sustainable development of the strategic partnership, the president added.
