COVID-19: Nepal reports 594 new cases

Kathmandu/UNI: The Novel Coronavirus count in Nepal reached 25,551 on Friday, after 594 new cases were recorded during the past 24 hours, the country's Health Ministry confirmed.

The Himalayan country's death toll also increased to 99, after four more people succumbed to the deadly virus during the past 24 hours.

The four deaths include two men from Bara and one each from Morang and Siraha districts, Kathmandu Post quoted Ministry Spokesperson Jageshwor Gautam as saying.

Dr Gautam said the total number of deaths included 42 people from Province 2, 18 from Bagmati Province, 12 from Province 5, nine from Province 1, eight from Sudurpaschim Province, six from Gandaki Province and four from Karnali.

Total 11,575 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were carried out in the country during the past 24 hours, out of which 594 were positive, Dr Gautam added.
