Diesel emission probe: Audi chief Rupert Stadler arrested

| @indiablooms | Jun 18, 2018, at 06:36 pm

Ingolstadt, Jun 18 (IBNS): German car-maker Audi's chief executive Rupert Stadler has been arrested in a probe into diesel emission scandal, media reports said.

Volkswagen spokesperson has confirmed the news to BBC.

Munich prosecutors said Stadler has been arrested as the latter might suppress evidences.

Stadler would be questioned on Wednesday after he speaks to his lawyers.

The scandal had hit three years ago.

The car company was accused of fitting a device in all its cars to cheat emissions test.

Volkswagen admitted in 2015 that it had sold 600,000 cars with the fitted device to the US.
