Dominic Raab appointed as new Brexit Secretary

London, July 9 (IBNS): UK Prime Minister Theresa May has appointed Dominic Raab as the Brexit Secretary, media reports said on Monday.

The new appointment was made after David Davis resigned from the government.

Raab is currently serving as the housing minister.

David Davis has quit from the government of the United Kingdom.

His departure comes days after Theresa May secured the cabinet's backing for her Brexit plan despite claims from critics that it was "soft", BBC reported.

Davis was appointed to the post in 2016.

As per BBC report,  in his resignation letter, Davis told May "the current trend of policy and tactics" was making it "look less and less likely" that the UK would leave the customs union and single market.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said British PM Theresa May was 'incapable of delivering Brexit'.

"David Davis resigning at such a crucial time shows @Theresa_May has no authority left and is incapable of delivering Brexit. With her Government in chaos, if she clings on, it's clear she's more interested in hanging on for her own sake than serving the people of our country," Corbyn tweeted.
