Donald Trump victory takes Canadians by shock
Several Canadians simply tweeted "Oh America, what have you done?"
Many others said, after the election result, that they were grateful to live in Canada.
"Hug your Canadian passports a little tighter today," tweeted Olivia Hondas, a Researcher with the University of Brunswick. "We are the blessed."
PR professional Anne Locke took to twitter to say, “I'm especially grateful to live in Canada this morning but still so sad. Oh, America. What have you done?”
While an ace socialist, El Henderz, with a pen name Jimmy T tweeted “Canada need to think about building a wall.... Oh America.”
While most Canadians kept tweeting “Oh America what have you done” many also started tweeting with the popular #ProudToBeCanadian following the triumphant Trump win.
Twireatti Tara Olswik, who resides in Canada’s Nova Scotia region, in Crepe Breton tweeted, “So #proudtobecanadian.We understand what it means to be good people & have elected leaders who reflect the same values. #ImStillWithHer”
Naseer Ahmad, a writer by profession tweeted, “We Canadians are welcoming Americans like we did Syrians #ProudToBeCanadian.”
Windy Preyma, a teacher tweeted, “The students sand O Canada a bit louder and prouder today.”
Sureina Gomes, a student at the University of Toronto tells IBNS, “Oh it’s a big shock to know that Trump is finally going to be at the White House. I pity on the American women and to all women in general who let this happen.”
Contrarily for Andy Pollock, a hot dog seller near the popular Dundas Square of Toronto, “Trump’s win is good for Canada as a power. I am happy that we will be in better shape now.”
Lucia Yang who immigrated to Canada ten years back from US says, “I always asked my parents why did we not stay in America anymore and let all our ties off with the country. They always gave me an answer that never satisfied me.”
However, she feels thankful saying, “But today I feel lucky that I already made a move ten years back. Had it been today I would have to be in a waiting list as the website of the immigration crashed with the American poll results.”
For 25-year-old Danny Greg, “It’s a celebration time as American’s have proved it again that they are no better than us in Canada.”
Danny invited over his American friends for a booze party tonight, to celebrate the Trump win.
