Easter Bombings: Sri Lanka police bring five suspects back from Saudi Arabia

Colombo, June 14 (IBNS): Sri Lankan security forces have brought back five suspects linked to the Easter Sunday attacks who were deported from Saudi Arabia, media reports said.

Five terror suspects including Mohamed Milhan, alias Abu Seelan, who were arrested in Jeddah in connection with the Easter Sunday attacks, have been brought back to Sri Lanka by the CID this morning, police was quoted as saying by Daily Mirror news paper.

The newspaper further reported that they said the special CID team had left for Saudi Arabia on June 11 to bring back the suspects who were in Saudi police custody. The suspects were detained under the CID custody for further questioning. 

Initial police investigations revealed that Milhan was responsible for thea killing of two police constables at a checkpoint in Vavunathivu in Batticaloa on November 30, 2018, reported the ri Lankan news paper.

On Easter Sunday this year, eight bomb blasts had rocked Sri Lanka.

The blasts had left 253 people killed.

The Islamic State had claimed responsibility for the blasts.
