| @justearthnews | Apr 01, 2024, at 12:39 am

Bodies of eight Chinese migrants were found on a beach in south Mexico after the boat in which they were travelling capsized, media reports said on Sunday.

The bodies were found on Friday along a route used by illegal migrants trying to reach the United States, reported BBC.

The boat was reportedly carrying seven women and a man.

They were onboard a boat operated by a Mexican.

The boat had resumed its journey from Chiapas state.

It is still not clear what happened to the driver.

The prosecutor's office in Oaxaca said the bodies were found near a beach in the town of Playa Vicente, reports BBC.

It said it was probing the cause of the accident and even working with the Chinese embassy in Mexico and identify the victims.

Since 2021, over 6.3 million migrants have entered the USA illegally.
