Fire rips through Dubai skyscraper, no injuries reported

Dubai, Aug 4 (IBNS): A residential skyscraper in Dubai was engulfed in fire, for the second time in two years, reports said.

However, government officials confirmed that the residents were evacuated successfully and no injuries were reported.

The media office of Dubai government tweeted, "Dubai Civil Defence:Fire at the Torch Tower has been brought under control. Cooling operations are underway. No inures have been reported."

The incident broke out on Thursday night as footage posted on social media showed fire spreading upwards the Torch Tower.

The reason for the blaze is yet to be ascertained.

The Torch Tower is considered the sixth tallest residential building in the world.

Opened in 2011, the skyscraper was partly damaged by a similar blaze in 2015.

The building houses 676 apartments.
