Gunmen abduct 20 Nigerian medical, dental students

Gunmen have abducted 20 Nigerian dental and medical students from Benue State of the country, media reports said.

The students were en route to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu, reported Daily Post.

According to reports, the students belong to  University of Maiduguri and University of Jos.

They were reportedly ambushed when the students were travelling together.

Benue State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene said an investigation has been launched into the incident.

“Yes, the report of kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing,"  Catherine Anene was quoted as saying by Daily Post.
