Iran threatens retaliatory strikes on Israel's energy facilities if Tel Aviv makes a 'mistake'

Tehran: The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a stern warning to Israel, threatening to target the country’s oil refineries and gas fields if Tel Aviv initiates an attack on Tehran.

Ali Fadavi, the deputy commander of the IRGC, asserted that the potential retaliation by stating that Iran could strike Israel’s energy infrastructure if provoked.

“If Israel makes a mistake – all of its energy facilities, refineries, and gas fields will be hit. Iran is a large country with many economic centers, while Israel has 3 power plants and several refineries, and we can hit them at the same time,” Fadavi declared, reported Iran's Ahlulbayt news agency.

Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araqchi, who visited Beirut amid the escalating tensions, also reinforced Iran’s stance.

He warned that while Iran does not intend to extend its attacks, any aggressive move by Israel would trigger a "tougher" response. "If Israel takes any action against Tehran, the response will be proportional and calculated,” Araqchi said, reported Iran's Tasnim news agency.

The IRGC’s threats follow Israeli airstrikes earlier this week, which were carried out in response to Iran’s missile attack. Iran had launched nearly 200 ballistic missiles after the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and other prominent figures connected to Tehran.

Today, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a rare sermon, honored Nasrallah’s death and urged the Muslim world to bolster its defenses. He further vowed continued strikes on Israel as tensions in the region heighten.

Iran’s foreign minister also stated on Friday that Tehran would accept a ceasefire in Lebanon, but only if it was synchronized with a ceasefire in Gaza and backed by Hezbollah.

“We support efforts for a ceasefire on the condition that it would be acceptable to the Lebanese people, acceptable to the resistance, and thirdly, it would be synchronized with a ceasefire in Gaza,” he said.
