Jerusalen/Xinhua/UNI: The total number of coronavirus cases in Israel rose on Tuesday by 173 to 15,728, the state's Ministry of Health said.

The death toll from COVID-19 infection in Israel increased from 204 to 210, while the number of patients in serious condition decreased from 126 to 116.

The number of daily recoveries reached 546, more than three times higher than the number of new infections, with total recoveries currently at 7,746.

The high recovery pace has reduced the number of active COVID-19 cases below 8,000 for the first time since April 5.

Thus, the number of active cases in Israel currently stands at 7,772, compared to 7,904 on April 5.

On Tuesday afternoon, a full closure took effect in Israel, and will continue until Wednesday as Israel celebrates its Independence Day.

Also, if the slowdown continues in the coming days, Israel's national education system will gradually reopen on Sunday, May 3. In the first phase, kindergartens and school classes up to the third grade will be resumed.
