IT failure: British Airways warns of further delays, recovery continues

London, May 28 (IBNS): Hit by major IT failure on Saturday, British Airways warned that further delays and cancellations might take place even as the aviation major resumed flights services on Sunday.

"Following the major IT system failure experienced throughout Saturday, we are continuing to work hard to fully restore all of our global IT systems," the aviation major said in a statement.

"We expect some further disruption today, but we are aiming to operate the majority of services from Heathrow and a near normal schedule at Gatwick," it said.

The British Airways warned travellers that: "Please do not come to the airports unless you have a confirmed booking for travel. At this time we are unable to process re-bookings at the airport terminals. You can check the status of your flight here and your individual booking by clicking on the Manage My Book tab."

The aviation major has apologised for the disruption of the service.

"We are extremely sorry for the significant levels of disruption caused to customers and understand how frustrating their experiences have been," it said.
