Jerusalem debate: Trump warns against voting against US in UN, says will cut aid
Washington, Dec 21 (IBNS): In a direct threat to the rest of the world, US President Donald Trump said that his country will be keeping an eye on the UN vote over Jerusalem and anyone voting against America will receive no aid from the nation from now on.
Speaking about the same on Wednesday, Trump told reporters at the White House, "All of these nations that take our money and then they vote against us at the Security Council or they vote against us, potentially, at the Assembly, they take hundreds of millions of dollars and even billions of dollars and then they vote against us."
"Well, we’re watching those votes,” he added. “Let them vote against us; we’ll save a lot. We don’t care.”
However, political commentators feel that the threat is vain and is less likely to be executed.
They have argued that such a thing will mean US cutting off aid to certain Middle Eastern nations, which is unlikely to take place.
According to Nikki Haley, US' ambassador to the United Nations, President Trump and the US will take this vote personally.
"At the UN we're always asked to do more & give more. So, when we make a decision, at the will of the American ppl, abt where to locate OUR embassy, we don't expect those we've helped to target us. On Thurs there'll be a vote criticizing our choice. The US will be taking names," she tweeted.

According to The New York Times, Haley's letter read, "To be clear, we are not asking that other countries move their embassies to Jerusalem, though we think it would be appropriate. We are simply asking that you acknowledge the historical friendship, partnership and support we have extended and respect our decision about our own embassy.”
On Monday the US vetoed a resolution drafted by Egypt in the Security Council.
According to reports, once it's taken by by the General Assembly, Canada, Hungary and Czech Republic might not vote.
Following the US' decision to recognise Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, Czech Republic too followed suit, however, the latter has so far not moved its embassy unlike America.
The US decision was met with several angry reactions from the Islamic world.
Countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Jordan, Turkey and Indonesia protested the move.
People in these places took to the streets in large numbers to chant anti-Trump slogans.
