NATO condemns North Korea nuclear test

| | Sep 09, 2016, at 09:19 pm
New York, Sept 9 (IBNS): As North Korea made fifth nuclear test, NATO on Friday called the incident as 'disturbing'.

"Reports about a possible fifth nuclear test conducted today by North Korea are very disturbing. If confirmed, this new provocation, only a few days after the launch of three ballistic missiles by the country into neighbouring waters, is another clear violation of numerous UN Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2270, adopted unanimously on 2 March 2016," read a NATO statement issued by Secretary General   Jens Stoltenberg.

Condemning the episode, he said: "I strongly condemn these consistent provocations and violations of binding UN Security Council resolutions which undermine regional and international security."

"NATO Heads of State and Government have repeatedly called on Pyongyang to immediately cease and abandon all its existing nuclear and ballistic missile activities in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner and re-engage in international talks,"; he said.‎

"I call yet again on North Korea to fully respect its international obligations and commitments and to refrain from any actions and threats that increase regional tensions and insecurity," he said.
