Never invaded a single square of foreign territory or triggered a single war or conflict: China
Beijing: China on Friday claimed that it has never provoked a "single war or conflict" or "invaded a single square" of foreign territory in a white paper issued in the run-up to the 70th anniversary of the formation of the People's Republic of China on Oct 1.
"China has always been dedicated to resolving territorial and maritime delimitation disputes through negotiation and consultation," the white paper titled title 'China and the World in the New Era' said, with no mention of 1962 Indo-China war.
"China safeguards world peace through real actions. Over the past 70 years, China has not provoked a single war or conflict, nor invaded a single square of foreign land," the document stated.
Even after 21 rounds of Special Representatives talks over decades, the 3,488-km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC), the de facto boundary between India and China, remains disputed.
India has been continuously countering China’s frequent assertions that the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh is part of southern Tibet.
In 2017, China’s attempt to construct roads close to the narrow Chicken Neck corridor which connects Mainland India with the northeastern states triggered a military standoff at Doklam.
The standoff continued for months. It was finally resolved diplomatically, after which troops of both the countries pulled back.
The area where China attempted to build the roads is also claimed by Bhutan. After months of standoff, the dispute was finally resolved diplomatically and troops from both sides retreated.
