No reports of Canadians falling sick consuming tainted alcohol: Global Affairs Canada
The statement from the Global Affairs Canada came after the U.S. State Department claimed the travellers from their country to Mexico are falling sick due to the consumption of tainted alcohol.
Apart from the claims, the U.S. State Department even warned its citizens from visiting Mexico lest they get affected by the tainted alcohol.
In an email interaction, a spokesperson of Global Affairs Canada told CTV News: "Following recent reports of tainted alcohol on Mexican resorts, Global Affairs Canada is not aware of any Canadians affected in Mexico."
A recent report by The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel stated several tourists had fallen sick after consuming alcohol at Mexican resorts.
The Travel Advice and Advisories page for Mexico warned travellers in a statement saying, "Be wary of accepting snacks, beverages, gum or cigarettes from new acquaintances or strangers, including taxi drivers, as the items may contain drugs that could put you at risk of sexual assault and robbery".
Global Affairs Canada is the department of the Canadian government which is in charge of maintaining the diplomatic and consular relations of the country.
